"Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second." - Marc Riboud
My Interest in photography must have started a long time ago as a very young boy. When we used to go out, my father would always bring his Adox 120 camera to take pictures of me and my sister as we played and had fun. Even at those early days, I always wanted to get hold of the camera and take pictures myself. Not willing to give his prized camera to a four year old, he always ended with pictures of a disconsolate boy sobbing in the background.
My first camera, a Nikon FG, came many years later in 1983 and, out of my deep desire to take photography seriously my new camera purchase was accompanied by subscriptions to camera magazines and other books that helped me build up my experience. Two years later I entered my first competition where I won 3rd Prize with an image titled "Solitudni Ta' Zaghzugha". Other commitments have regrettably led me to shelve my equipment and put my hobby in a hiatus only to be restarted in the very recent digital photography age.
For the past few years I have been a member of the Malta Institute of Professional Photography (MIPP) and The Malta Photographic Society (MPS).
About My Photography
My favorite photography subjects have always been Portraits, Children, Land and Seascapes in both colour and monochrome representation. Most recently I have also started experimenting with digital post processing techniques. However, I try to keep digital manipulation to a minimum as I strongly believe in producing a good image in the viewfinder rather than on the desktop. Through good subject composition, creativity, and controlled lighting, I attempt to capture the person, scene or event in a particular and often unique manner.
